The Review:
- The latest from John Orsi's Knitting By Twilight is the long awaited An Evening Out Of Town. This release was first mentioned in my review of the band’s Someone To Break The Silence (2005), which at the time was billed as a “teaser” to An Evening Out Of Town. “Audrey” was the only song that survived but is featured here in a slightly different version. It especially reminds me of Robert Fripp’s soundscapes mixed with the acoustic vibe of the California Guitar Trio.
The entire album has a dreamy yet vibrant mood. I would almost say it has an Americana feel to it blended with an ambient twist. Some songs have a repetitive nature to them but they never overstay it’s welcome. It’s very peaceful and soothing album that sounds best via headphones. A perfect soundtrack to a spring or summer evening. Recommended for fans of the aforementioned bands as well as those into the softer side of music. Reviewed by Ron Fuchs on April 30th, 2009
