I had the immense pleasure of reviewing Nox Arcana’s previous two releases ‘Carnival Of Souls’ and ‘Blood Of the Dragon’. Both of which gets listened to quite often especially on All Hallows Eve. Now the band returns with another release. Joseph and William are quite the work-a-holics and now in 2007 I believe they topped themselves with another epic release called ‘Shadow Of the Raven’, a tribute to Edgar Allan Poe‘s literal works.
To date the band has released 7 full-length albums in just 4 years and going stronger with each release. Each one transports you to different places and times where you meet with subjects like Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos, Vlad Tepes Dracula, fallen angels and ghostly knights, lost carnivals and a haunted mansion. All perfect mini soundtrack to hear over an over. ‘Shadow Of The Raven’ is just the latest and I must say my favorite of the three I’ve reviewed so far.
If you enjoy orchestral instrumental music with a gothic flavor, you must get your hands on a copy of ‘Shadow of the raven’ ASAP! I can’t recommend this enough especially to fans of bands like Karda Estra, Ghosts Of Pompeii, Yeti Rain to name a few.
