Artist/ Band: Sententia
Title: Fruition
Label: Self release
Year of Release: 2006

The Review:

Sententia is basically a duo of Dede Booth (founder, producer, drummer, rhythm guitarist, and lead singer) and Matt Nazzaro (lead guitars, backup vocals, and bass) who hail from the Boston area. The music these two create is both haunting and beautiful. It’s category is really hard to describe whereas it’s somewhere between a gothic and progressive rock sound.

Their debut, a 4 song EP called Fruition contains some really catchy melodic sounds along with some tastefully done instrumental passages that, in my opinion, border on a complex ‘progressive’ side. They arrive at their brand of progressive rock by way of a raw energetic indie style rock. This is just a glimpse of what’s to come from this duo. One band that they remind me of mostly is a stripped down The Gathering (modern day).

I’d recommend looking into Sententia, especially at their beginning stages. I really look forward to hearing more from this band. It would be interesting to see where they go!
