Artist/ Band: Serpentina Satelite
Serpentina Satelite is a five-piece psychedelic band out of Lima, Peru that has released an EP on the German label Trip In Time called Nothing To Say. Even though it’s listed as an EP, there’s 48 minutes of music including a show stopping epic, “Kommune 1”, which reminds me of both "A Saucerful Of Secrets" and "Echoes" by Pink Floyd. The rest of the album consists of tracks that range from 3 to almost 9 minutes. The first track, “Nueva Ola”, reminds me of Pink Floyd’s “Careful With That Axe, Eugene“. The title track moves more into the space rock territory which reminds me of what Hawkwind was doing in the early 70’s. The next tracks, “The Last Drop” and “Madripoor” pretty much sound like something in between Hawkwind and to lesser extent, Oresund Space Collective & Croatian band Seven That Spells. While I normally don’t listen to psychedelic music, Serpentina Satelite is one of those rare exceptions. If space rock or any of the bands mentioned above are of interest, then I think this band needs to be checked out immediately. I look forward to what the future may hold for Serpentina Satelite. To help you decide, I’d suggest listening to the samples on their MySpace page. Reviewed by Ron Fuchs on May 23rd, 2009
