The Review:
- Ripper is one of those American metal bands that disappeared rather quickly in the late 80’s only after releasing an album, “And The Dead Shall Rise“. They can easily be mentioned along side bands like Motley Crue (first two albums only), W.A.S.P., Samhain, Guns n Roses (first album only), Merciful Fate, Trouble to name a few. I read that Metal Blade passed them up to release a second album. The label just lost their interest in the band. So sadly they split up until the reformation and new line-up. It took a label miles away in Italy called Black Widow Records to release the band’s second album, The Dead Have Rizen in 2006.
For those longing for the ‘old school’ metal can look no further. Ripper is the band that will satisfy those fans easily. There’s no ’hit’ singles, no ballads here, just in your face assault of old-school metal
So if you’re into “old-school” metal then, The Dead Have Rizen is an album that you must buy immediately! They clearly are bringing the 80’s metal sound back, just like some bands brought the retro 70’s sound back. If you’re not into that metal sound that borders then this is the band and release for you to get ASAP! All others stay clear!
