The Review:

MMCIRClE is Canadian band fronted by drummer, Martin Maheux of Spaced Out. Their third album, Requiem Pour Un Vivant has dark classical themes very similar in ways to the music of Univers Zero as well as label mates Yeti Rain. Since I haven’t heard the previous MMCircle album, I properly can’t make any comparisons. Joining Martin are Eric St-Jean (piano), Lizann Gervais (violin), Karine Lalonde (alto violin) and Janie Massicotte & Gael Huard (cello).

On the disc there’s 5 tracks ranging from 6 to almost 12 minutes. Each composition transports the listener into a haunting world of dark melodies with a bit of added melancholy for good measure. If you’re a fan of bands like Univers Zero and similar, then you will absolutely need to get your hands on this album ASAP.
