The Review:

Godsticks are a new progressive-rock band from South Wales, UK that were formed in 2005 by Darran Charles (vocal/guitar/piano), Jason Marsh (Bass) and Steve Roberts (Drums). Together this trio forged their own brand of music by using a mixture of fusion, progressive rock, rock, and indie pop elements. They started out as a cover band that covered complex yet accessible side progressive music. Godsticks then began to write new original material and developing their style, song based complex progressive rock.

Godsticks released a self-titled 5 song EP in early 2009 .The songs lengths are short in comparison to other bands but on the first track “ Not The Face”, Godsticks does in under 5 minutes what others take in double or even triple the time. The big selling point is the band sounds nothing like anything past or present.

Godsticks have created a something original which makes them very different to any of the bands out today. If this EP is any indication of what’s to come, then the progressive minded music world will be graced by something beautiful. If complex yet accessible music is what you thrive on , then look no further than Godsticks.
