The Review:

Diffusion is the third full-length album by the instrumental progressive band 7for4, which is headed by guitarist Wolfgang Zenk (of the progressive metal band Sieges Even), seems to follow a similar path to Sieges Even, that being the metal element. That similarity ends when they add different genres like fusion, funk, jazz, rock and many others, hence the name Diffusion (different fusion). The main instrument is the guitar and I must admit that 7for4 really isn’t my cup of tea. Mainly I’m not a big fan of the shred guitar-driven instrumental music. Honestly I rather have all instruments have equal time.

If you enjoy the direction neo-classical bands of the 80’s took yet wanted more substance and variety, then 7for4 is the band for you. Then their latest release ‘Diffusion’ is a no brainer for you. I would also recommended this to fans of heavier sounding fusion as well as progressive metal based instrumental music.
