The Review:

Yeti Rain is a duo of William Kopecky (bass) and Roger Ebner (wind synthesizer). Their debut release Discarnate on the progressive label Unicorn Digital. The music is best described as 'dark ambient', sort of in the vein of Univers Zero’s first two albums minus the orchestrations and a soundtrack to a horror film or a dark psychological thriller.

After several listens, I’d think they’d be better categorized as a film score style band, similar to bands like Karda Estra, Ghosts of Pompeii, Nox Arcana and In A World, than a progressive rock band like William’s own Kopecky, Parallel Minds, Par Lindh Project or even Far Corner.

If you’re expecting grooves, time signatures, solo spots, or set constructions of progressions, patterns or melody then you won‘t enjoy this. If you enjoy the afore mentioned band‘s music then Yeti Rain is a must have. It‘s one of those albums that for best results should be heard on headphones and for added effect listen to it at the witching hour. This will be one of those albums you can revisit in a certain mood. I’d recommend it but it’s not for the faint of heart.
