The Review:

WOW is all I have to say about the latest band from the Transubstans Record label called Villebrad. On their debut, ’Alla ar har utom jag ’ they combine modern progressive rock with late 70’s art rock and early 80’s new wave into something very fresh sounding. Just imagine the sound as a mixture of such bands as Ultravox, Tears For Fears and Japan with Discipline-era King Crimson and modern bands such as Anekdoten, Blackfield, Anathema, Sigur Ros and Radiohead. This is only the foundation of what the band sounds like.

The end result is quite fantastic with the minor (and I mean minor) downside of the non-English sung vocals. Don’t fret, the vocals blend so easily with the music that you hardly can tell. Hey some of the English vocal songs out there are hard to understand, so it’s no big detour in the listening pleasure.

Your mileage may vary on this release since it's a non-English vocal album and progressive but not in a conventional way. Open-minded listeners will rejoice and need to hear this album!
