The Review:

Unicorn Records was founded back in 1996, primarily as a way to release and promote the music of Canadian artist MYSTERY. Since then they’ve grown to having many artists including; Spaced Out, Xinema, MM Circle, Hamadryad, Heon, Addison Project, Talisma and more recently Kaos Moon & Retroheads.

In late 2004, Unicorn Records released a compilation of their releases up until 2003 called Progression In Balance: Volume One. This compilation basically showcases the talent of such bands as Spaced Out, Xinema, MM Circle, Hamadryad, Heon, Addison Project and Talisma.

14 songs have been chosen to appear on this CD and pretty much gives listeners a good complete oversight of the bands on the Unicorn Records label. Music ranges from jazz-fusion to experimental to symphonic to prog metal and all points in between.

This is a great starting point for those wishing to experience the music from the Unicorn Records label as well as a nice addition to any prog fan’s collection. This would also make the perfect gift!
