The Review:

The Other Side is a brand new instrumental progressive rock band led by multi-instrumentalist Alan Mallery (keyboards, saxophone, Theremin, percussion). Allan is joined by Lyle LaRaman (bass and guitar), and Lamar Neally (drums). Their debut album is called “A Higher Vantage Point”. It takes the listener on a musical journey reminiscent of what such 70’s progressive rock bands like Camel, Genesis and Happy The Man to name a few, were doing back in the day.

This is one of those instrumental albums that you have to listen to in it’s entirety on the first and sequential listens. Highlights for me are the opening jazzy “Maximum Vitality” to the aptly named “Schizoid” and the ending track, “Lunar Sunset” which is dedicated to the late great Pete Bardens (keyboardist for Camel). As for instrumental prog, The Other Side delivers and gets my recommendation.
