The Review:
- I received a copy of Stephen Doe’s demo cd entitled Trial. There wasn’t much about him included nor a website to help out with any history. So there’s really not much I can say about Stephen’s music other than it’s very guitar oriented, just a notch or two below the guitar shredding type The music has a hard rock approach with some progressive and fusion elements. In my opinion, based solely on this demo cd, it’s not enough to be classified as progressive rock. That being said, this is a demo cd with Stephen doing all the instruments. I think with a finished product, Stephen could be the next big thing but that will depend how he goes from the Trial demos. One thing I keep hearing is his guitar playing reminds me at times of Hackett, Holdsworth and Latimer in the softer moments.
