The Review:

Situation is the second album by the Swedish psychedelic rock band Skyron Orchestra. I consider myself lucky to have reviewed their first self titled CD but upon listening to Situation, I think the band surpassed themselves over the self titled debut last year.

Just like the debut, the music on Situation brings us back to the sixties with similarity to Jefferson Airplane and The Doors, the latter due mostly to the guitar and organ sound. The former due to the female vocals. While the band hasn’t progressed much musically, they have matured and honed their skills to give a more mature feel. The music while very assessable it has a slightly more complex sound in parts that will lure some Prog fans in.

One thing that should be stated here is, that in the 90's Sweden was one of the launching pads to the resurgence of progressive rock and now in the new millennium they’re doing the same for sixties inspired rock music.

In closing, I would recommend Skyron Orchestra’s Situation to fans of the afore mentioned bands as well as those that want to revisit or visit the sixties. This is one of the better releases of 2006 to come across my hands.
