The Review:

Robert Fripp is best known as one of the founders of King Crimson and during one of the hiatus, he recorded his first solo album Exposure with wide range of styles and support musicians. Some musicians include vocalists Daryl Hall, yes that one. Also Peter Hammill lends his vocal talent, which to me has always been a nice fit to Robert’s unique guitar playing and arrangements.

So in 2006, Exposure returns as a deluxe two disc set, remastered with a similar treatment done with the King Crimson remasters. Disc one contains the original 1979 edition “First Edition” and disc two has the 1985 remix “Third Edition” plus a few bonus tracks. One of the differences between the two versions is some tracks have different vocals, such as Daryl Hall replacing Peter Hammill’s vocals on “Disengage” and “Chicago”. Hall’s vocals are also on the bonus tracks “Mary” and “Exposure”.“Disengage” has a different vocal performance from Hammill and “Chicago” has added vocals from Terry Roche.

I always liked Exposure and was so happy when it was announced that it was going to get the remaster treatment to bring the sound to a crystal clarity that makes it a fantastic re-visitation. Just like the recent King Crimson reissues, it is available in a mini-LP sleeve as well as a standard jewel case both with an excellent information and picture filled 24-page booklet. This is what the fans have been waiting for. I don’t have to say it but I will... this is the MUST have reissue of 2006 and beyond! Go buy it yesterday!
