The Review:

Las Orejas Y La Lengua are hard to describe but from listening to “Error” (their 2003 release) they do fall into the RIO genre. They fullfill the expectations on the genre with ever changing styles from soft to aggressive passages, some song to song, some within a song. They don’t overdraw the songs to have “epics”, in fact almost every song is under the 6 minute mark.

Like other RIO bands, LOYLL utilizes classical based instruments to bring forth their music to life. Hailing from Argentina, this band does an all instrumental auditory assault. Being instrumental, makes it “easier” for some, especially those who frown on foreign language sung music. So in many ways LOYLL is a “universal” band. From other reviews, they seem to have grown from their first release, which is good because, a band needs to do so or will be pigeonholed as stale or boring. One can hope for more from this band. Hopefully this release will find it’s way into more collections. For those who care about the packaging., my copy is in a paper “LP” style packaging. It is attractive but may damage if not carefully handled.

In conclusion, I think that all audiences of RIO movement and most of th Cueniform Records’ artists in particular will very much enjoy this release.
