The Review:
- I was familiar with Joop Walters from his band Arabesque and now he has a solo album out called Speed, Traffic and Guitar Accidents. The music on this solo album is hard to categorize and pinpoint because he is all over the place from heavy guitar crunching to jazzy, almost Holdsworth-like guitar playing. I really enjoy the later stuff more than the metallic crunch style, mainly because he does that so well already with his band. Here in solo form I like to hear something different from Joop and he delivers. This is a very good guitar-based instrumental album, possibly the best one of 2004. Also it’s one of the better releases from the Lion Music record label. More of this please! This is A recommended purchase!
