The Review:

From Silence is new release from multi instrumentalists Troy Donockley & Dave Bainbridge. Since their band Iona has been on hiatus for the last few years due to singer Joanne Hogg's 'maternity leave', these two decided to join forces to record this as well as other solo works. According to the Iona website, From Silence is their second cd together.

From Silence was recorded in the Lincoln Cathedral and showcases Troy & Dave’s improvisational side in a very laid back ambient way. It’s divided into six parts with only slight changes in musical themes, it can be considered one long continual seventy-something minute piece This is one of those cds that will require the time to listen to it from start to finish and is best listened to with headphones to get the optimal aural experience.

I can recommend this to fans of Troy & Dave as well as their main band Iona. If you’re looking for something in the rock genre you won’t find it here. You will however find a very beautiful Celtic classical/ ambient based music.

From Silence deserves to be in any true music fan’s collection with a hearty recommendation.
