The Review:

This was another pleasant surprise band in 2005. All the way from Izmir, Turkey comes a new prog-metal band called Disenchant, which started back in 2000 at a local university. Now skip ahead five years and the band releases its first recording in the form of a EP called Dilemma, which clocks in at over 20 minutes. In the accompanying letter, the band apologies for the sound quality. I honestly couldn’t hear what they meant. Yes it was raw sounding and the drumming was a bit much on the digital sounding side. Other than that it was a very enjoyable release.

The music has a atmospheric, guitar driven metallic sound rooted in with progressive and rock moments through from heavy hitters of the title track to the beautiful and haunting ending track, Gray Tomorrow.

Disenchant will appeal to fans of Pain of Salvation and Wastefall to name a few. I’m sure once they release a full length album they will take the prog-metal world by storm. Until then, Dilemma is a glimpse of what’s to come from Disenchant.
