The Review:
- Anechoic was formed in 2000 by members John Lima and Peter Scartabello to create a form of music that crosses between ambient and dissonant improvisations. On their latest release, Leng Jin, I hear their influences near what Fripp & Eno did but leaning more towards Fripp’s dissonant guitar playing, primarily found in the last incarnation of King Crimson of the 1970’s.
I must admit to be flying blind with this style of music which has taken me more listens than usual to get the gist of what the music is all about. After a half dozen listens I still don’t get it but I think fans of Fripp & Eno’s work will appreciate it. In fact I would recommend Leng Jin to them and fans of the adventurous forms of ambient music today.
